The Entry Level Software Developer position in our Space division is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Canadian-based tech organization. You are a computer science graduate who brings fresh ideas and are interested in full-stack software development, distributed and cloud computing, high-availability system design, security, artificial intelligence, and UI design. You will join a team of 100+ software developers to collaborate, learn, and push the limits of developing advanced technologies.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

You will experience all phases of the software development lifecycle and work with clients worldwide. There is an opportunity to switch teams and projects as the business and individuals’ needs grow. Responsibilities Specific to “SiriusXM Project”

  • Back-end Java/Python developer, working on an agile team developing SiriusXM satellite uplink and conditional access systems. These distributed and highly available systems control access to a portion of SiriusXM radios and construct the signals that are delivered to millions of SiriusXM subscribers.

Responsibilities Specific to “Satcom Planning and Management Solutions”

  • Back-end C++/Java/Python developer, working on a mission-critical software system that is used to dynamically manage and optimize advanced satellite onboard communication payloads powering world-leading satellite communication networks that touch every aspect of life, from air travel to military theatres.

Responsibilities Specific to “Satellite Gateways”

  • Back-end Java developer with occasional front-end development and Python scripting, working work to create, maintain, and evolve satellite gateway systems specific to critical applications, including aeronautic (commercial aircraft) and machine-to-machine (remote, low data rate) communication networks. Travel is a possibility. C++ is also an asset and may substitute for Java experience. Linux/KVM experience is also an asset.

Responsibilities Specific to “Network Management Solutions”

  • Full stack Java/JavaScript developer working to maintain and evolve products used to manage satellite, broadcast, telecommunications and cable networks. Our latest tools use cloud-native microservices architectures and are extensible, high-performance, and highly available.

The Skills and Experience You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Science degree combined with Electrical Engineering/Engineering Physics
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, Python or C++
  • You will have the ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
